Roger Steward
Born in the UK, I have lived and worked as a battlefield historian and author in the Ypres area since 2010.
Over the years, i have guided for several local tour companies and have a wealth of experience and knowledge. I am used to guiding groups of all sizes, from coach groups to individuals. Some of my previous clients include the BBC, The Vimy Foundation, groups from the British Army, SHAPE and NATO to name but a few. I have even taken Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig on a tour - well the famous actor who portrayed him in the BBC TV series Blackadder Goes Forth, the late Mr Geoffrey Palmer.
I was chairman of the Royal British Legion Ypres Branch from 2014 - 2016 and am the founder and chairman of the
New Ypres League.
The Great War for me is not just an interest but a passion, and has been since my youth. I am honoured to be a guide in the Ypres Salient. It is very important that the story of the men and women of the Great War continues to be told and that their story should not be dimmed or clouded by the ravages of time.
